ANNOUNCEMENT: Retirement of Blake Ortner from Carl Blake, E.D.

To All PVA Leadership, Chapters, and Staff:
I am saddened to announce that Blake Ortner, Deputy Government Relations Director, will be retiring from Paralyzed Veterans of America, effective March 15, 2018. Blake has served with PVA for more than 30 years, holding positions in our Development Department, Sports Department, and the Government Relations Department.
Blake is being recalled to full-time active duty with the Army for a three-year assignment. He previously served as an Army Ranger on active duty out of college. After leaving the active-duty Army, Blake joined the Virginia Army National Guard. He has gone on to be one of the most accomplished Army officers still serving today, active duty or National Guard. He has commanded at every level, from battalion to division, in combat since September 11, 2001 and today serves as the Division Commander for the 29th Infantry Division. He currently holds the rank of Major General.
We wish Blake great success in his future endeavors. He will be sorely missed.
Effective March 16, 2018, Heather Ansley, Associate General Counsel for Corporate and Government Relations, will serve as the Acting Associate Executive Director of Government Relations. Heather can be reached by email at or by phone at (202) 416-7794.
Thank you.

Carl Blake
